I always have so much fun thinking about the theme behind my children’s parties. I like to put a little extra thought in them to reflect us and find a purpose behind all of the love and details I put into it. My son Milan – like most toddlers, loves Sesame Street. Elmo, in particular. So I wanted to bring to fruition a scene that wasn’t the usual Sesame Street set up – whether it be on TV or another Sesame Street birthday party. I came across this beach scene with Sesame Street characters and then everything came full circle to me. I contacted my sweet friend Lena Halteh from Pom and Peacock who happens to also be an amazing illustrator. We put our heads together and she pulled together an illustration for me that was exactly what I had hoped for. We customized everything in my party illustration and I am so thrilled that with all of the customizations we were still able to capture the true playful and colorful Sesame Street aesthetic. Lena customized the illustration to match my children’s furniture we used in our set up which made the illustration so special to me. I wanted it to look like Milan was a part of the beach club while the Sesame Street characters were a part of our “beach club”. Lena was also able to use a type of sketch that was reflective of a book I picked up highlighting a vintage array of Sesame Street scenes over 50 years {linked below}. I really gravitated to the colors and type of sketch of this book since they were slightly vintage in appearance. Since I decided to go the beach route with my party scene I decided to bring it to a beach club {Club 55} in St. Tropez. A beach club that is special for my husband and I. One that is reflective of our style and holds a special place for us. One we will definitely be going back often to with our kids.
While all of the aesthetic details are pretty and sentimental in my eyes, the biggest and most beautiful details are in my son’s eyes, it’s in his smile, it’s in his beautiful presence. He sets my heart on fire. I am thankful for another year of health, happiness and the joys he brings me daily. Happy Birthday to my son.
